Steadfast Will I Be is a wonderful romance and history lesson. I love the characters and the truth of the storyline. Susan uses wonderful sentence structure and language to portray a time in Scotland when life was not easy. The characters are strong and endearing.The way she ends the story is very interesting and different. Anyone who picks up this book will love it!
I could not put it down. Read it in one day. The rich and vivid character development. The breathtaking scenery detail. I felt as if I was watching a movie. It was a fantastic adventure all the while feeling as if I was interacting with the characters as a bystander. For me, I simply felt that engulfed in the story. I laughed, I cried, I was joyous, I was angry, I was outraged for the characters and I mourned with them. It was an absolute must-read.
The book was very well-written and the characters are strong. I liked that it took place in Scotland and that there was Scottish dialect all through the book that was easy to read. I also liked the book because of the Scottish history and the love story between Robin and Suann.
The historical romance was well-researched, well-written, and was hard to put down. Her characters were believable and I was taken back to that period in history with strong characters and a wonderful love story mixed in with real people from that time. Enjoyed reading this book and recommend it to lovers of history, romance, and adventure. Thank you, Susan Leigh Furlong, for a trip back in time.

By Promise Made is a wonderfully written story. Hugh and Kit both have to face personal flaws to have a future together. Set in Scotland, it offers an authentic glimpse into troubled times during the reign of the infant Queen Mary.
Susan Leigh Furlong has added a second installment in her series of romance and adventure novels. This story moves along briskly and interweaves historical persons and fictional characters into a powerful love story. You can embrace these characters and really feel their passion along with them. A great story!
By Promise Made is a historical romance I couldn't put down. I have read a lot of books dealing with Queen Mary of Scots, but this story puts a new spin on the young queen.
An exciting, passionate romance. I was enthralled from the beginning. I love a story where the characters are in impossible situations rife with conflict, and this is one of those books. The setting and the English and Scottish touches were very authentic. Loved it!
Her talent for creating a setting puts the reader in the middle of forests as easily as a castle keep. By Promise Made rings with authenticity and for those reasons deserves a 7.
